2.5 and .5 Games Back of the Leaders

The Sox finished off that little road trip in a really sad fashion. They were cruising along riding high on the seven game winning streak and then it came to a halting stop. Suddenly the pitching was no longer solid and the hitting went back to its old splotchy self. The Sox had chances off both Hochevar and Bannister and they let them off the hook. This is not something to become to concerned about, but it would have been real nice for a bounce back game after the streak broke.

Luckily for the White Sox they are not in a bad position at all. The climb back into the race was a swift one from the Sox perspective. On June 26th the Sox sat 3 games under .500 and 6 games out of first place. Just 9 days later the Sox are on a 2 game losing streak with an overall record of 42-40 and still just 2.5 games out of first and a half game out of 2nd.

And what's especially nice is the week before the break is not too bad for the Sox. They head back home to take on Cleveland in 3 winnable games. Then head up to Minnesota with the rotation set for Danks, Floyd, and Buehrle to take the bump up there. 4 wins is very possible and if the Sox can turn the tide in Minnesota 5 is very possible.

Unfortunately the Tigers are looking at 6 games at home against the Indians and Royals. But this much I know is true. Unless the Sox vastly under perform in the next 6 games, there is a strong possibility they are within a series (3 games) of the leader of the division. And that's before Carlos comes back.
