With a Semi-Able Pitcher on the Mound Cubs Offense Back to Being Bad

I knew what I saw last night was too good to be true, but I figured that the Cubs offense would at least start being a little bit better after beating Brian Moehler on Tuesday. Turns out Wandy Rodriquez is Cy Young. Aside from Fatty hitting a bomb of a homer the Cubs offense did nothing. Then Chris Sampson came in and dazzled major league hitters with a number of crap pitches that should have been killed.

Games like this 2-1 loss are really frustrating because Big Z was his full out badass pitching self tonight. Eight innings of one run ball should pretty much guarantee a win for a starting pitcher, but as Randy Wells knows all too well, this offense won't get the job done.

Angel Guzman tried his best to get the game to extra innings, but the heart of the Astros order was able to get on base, and Geoff Blum reached into his big hit bag to get a game winning single. I'm not upset at all with Guzman because the game should have been in Kevin Gregg's hands for a save.

Oh well, the Astros will try and pick a starter for tomorrow- Russ Ortiz is the current starter- and the Cubs will send the Dumpster to the mound. Dumpster has been Dempster recently, hopefully that trend can continue and the Cubs can take advantage of another bad Houston starter.
