Are the Sox Really This Bad?

I wish I had an answer to that question, but I really don't. I'm not sure if the team we saw in Anaheim and Kansas City is the real Sox, or if this current team is the real one. Or is it somewhere in between?

I tend, as many do, to overreact when games go south, weeks go south, or even a month goes south. But right now I'm really starting to debate over what I really think the Sox are. I can't figure out if they are a team with talent that just has no concept of fundamentals and therefore are under-achieving, or a team that is just bad and the lack of fundamentals and clutch hitting is based on not having good players.

I'm not going to jump to any rash conclusions here but I'm starting to feel like this is just not a very good team. But maybe I'm just trying to keep my streak of criticizing people and them turning around and playing well (See Anderson and Beckham in the last post, and yes Beckham getting 1 hit counts as playing well for him).

Tomorrow I will not be able to witness any portion of the game so I will not be commenting on what happened since I won't really know. My guess is they will score 20 runs and knock in 7 runners from third on sac flies. Just to spite me. But my honest opinion is they get smoked and head up to Milwaukee with their tails between their legs and their heads right next to their tails.

  1. You need an answer? Yes. Yes they are this bad. If you told me back during Spring Training that on June 10 that Scott Podsednik would be the best player on the White Sox, I would have said this season is over already. And really, it is. Their only hope is that this bad division gets even worse and they catch fire in a bottle with some of the kids they're calling up.
