That's What You Call a Rebound

What better way to come back from a blown game yesterday than overcoming a 2 run deficit in the 7th against a good bullpen. As bad as yesterday was, today was that good. The Tigers and Twinks lost so the Sox move back within 1 game of Detroit and hold a 1.5 game lead on Minnesota. But there was more good in this game than just the W.

I'll start with the major league debut Carlos Torres. 6 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 3 K. Not the best start in the world, but certainly good enough to keep his team in the ballgame. Also, in my opinion good enough to get him another start 5 days from now. And with that double header coming up Friday the Sox were in a situation in which they could have been forced to start some people out of order to stay in line. No longer is that the case because Danks will get the extra game on Friday, and Torres will be right back at it Monday. This start was key in so many ways for Torres, now I just hope he can keep it.

The other thing that I loved in this game was the resiliency of the hitting. Not only do they deserve a lot of credit for sticking with it and eventually winning the game, but they also got 7 hits with 2 strikes in this game. That is something they really have had a tough time doing this season, and in many seasons past, but today that was not the case. What that does is extend innings, shorten opposing starts, and allow for some deflating AB's for the pitcher.

All in all, this was a huge game for the White Sox. They come up with the huge rebound from yesterday, possibly find an extra starter for the stretch run, and get back on the right track as we enter into a couple big series on the horizon.
